Following a Publication’s Guidelines Can Be Critical
Case studies can be both technical and demanding. They can also
be quite involved, requiring charts, statistics, photos, graphs
and a language that can challenge the best wordsmiths.
Because TDIndustries specializes in facilities management practices
that both adhere to and exceed the International Facility Management
Association’s (IFMA) benchmarking standards, the case study
profiling TDIndustries’ partnership with Boeing’s Commercial
Electronics division made good business sense. Boeing agreed.
The mutual goal for the TDIndustries/Boeing case study: To demonstrate
facilities management competency and accountability that exceed
performance expectations by adopting a “partner philosophy” focusing
on the talents of the team.
The writing challenge: Stringent, technical writing guidelines.
Several interviews, conference calls and 2,000 words later, our
case was accepted upon submission with only minor editing. When
it was published, the Japan Facility Management Promotion Association
asked to translate it for their members.
Beyond that special recognition, TDIndustries can now share its
best practices among 17,500 facilities managers worldwide and reprint
the case for its prospects and clients. |
